Greetings!

LumaKa Technologies™ is the software arm of LumaKa Ventures, LLC a family-owed certified small business headquartered in Long Grove, IL and founded in 2023. We build small, focused mobile apps that solve one problem properly instead of ten problems halfway.

Price For Profit™ is our first. It exists because pricing handmade goods is genuinely hard and almost nobody does it well. Materials are easy enough to add up. Labor gets skipped. Packaging gets forgotten. Marketplace fees come off the top before you ever see the money, and they’re different everywhere you sell. The result is a maker who sells out at a show, works fifty hours, and can’t explain where the profit went.

There’s no mystery in it. It’s math. It’s just math nobody has time to do by hand, over and over, every time the price of wax changes.

So we built something that does it.

What we learned at the faire

We spent a day at a Renaissance Faire talking to the people who make things and sell them. Candlemakers, soap and perfume makers, jewelers, leatherworkers, glass blowers, woodworkers, potters, metalworkers, seamstresses sewing period costume, hat makers, bakers, candy makers. One of them turned out to be a CPA who sells at shows on weekends, and he said he was tired of building spreadsheets.

That’s the whole problem in one sentence. If someone who does this professionally finds the arithmetic tedious, the maker who’d rather be at the bench has no chance.

What we care about

Accuracy over convenience. A pricing app that gives you a comfortable number instead of a true one is worse than no app at all.

Your numbers are yours. We don’t connect to your shop, we don’t need access to your accounts, and we’re not in the business of selling anyone’s data.

Small and finished. We’d rather ship one thing that works than five things that almost do.

‍Why "LumaKa"?

People often ask about the name. LumaKa (pronounced Loo-mah-KAH) is derived from parts of my first name, Luis, my youngest daughter's name, Madeleine, and my wife's name, Erika. I wanted a name that was both distinctive and personal—one that reflects the importance of family and the values that have shaped both my life and my career.
